Workshop: From ITAM to IT Governance
-
AJ Witt
ITAM Industry Analyst, The ITAM Review
Organisations are increasingly building direct business value from their use of IT. The assets ITAM teams manage are deloyed closer than ever to customers – in everything from smart devices to AI-enabled customer service agents. ITAM Professionals have always advocated the importance of managing technical assets and this shift in the means of production and value creation gives us an opportunity to make ITAM a governance function seen as essential as Finance or Legal. This session will provide a framework for building a cross-functional IT Governance practice. It will explore the common governance needs for technology-first organisations, look at macroeconomic, societal, and geopolitical factors, and place ITAM within a team dedicated to maximising business value safely, securely, and ethically.

Workshop: SaaS Management – what does good look like?
-
AJ Witt
ITAM Industry Analyst, The ITAM Review
As organisations transition rapidly towards remote working, they are increasingly relying on Software-as-a-Service to provide their employees with the tools they need to do their job. Collaboration, file-sharing, and web conferencing tools might once have been a niche area with only the select few needing access to them. Now they’re as ubiquitous and as necessary as an email client. With many of these capabilities delivered as SaaS it becomes imperative to manage them with the same rigour applied to other technology assets.
In this session I’ll present a framework for doing this – the people, processes, and tools necessary for effective governance of this once emerging and now mainstream spend category. Come along to find out how to start a SaaS Management programme – even without any tools – and how to build momentum behind it to ensure that the rapid digital transformation of the last 4 months doesn’t store up problems for the future.
