Flexera has announced its intention to acquire Spot by NetApp. 

In a nutshell: 

  • Spot brings Flexera better capabilities around managing containers, spot instances and reserved instances. 
  • Spot also provides Flexera with more customers and capabilities in MSP driven engagements (see image below)  
  • This extension to Flexera’s cloud capabilities follows similar acquisitions of Meta SaaS, RightScale and most recently, Snow Software.

This puts Flexera on a path towards a billion dollar ARR company. Flexera says it is focussing its efforts where spend is growing fastest, so it will be interesting to see what additional advancements it brings to the table for managing both the cost and risk of AI.
