In 2024, the ITAM Review was merged into the ITAM Forum. That made sense at the time: one team, one mission, one platform, and a clearer way to serve the community.

Now the landscape is shifting again. As the ITAM Forum transitions into the Linux Foundation, ITAM Review is becoming a separate entity once more.

The training platform LISA, ITAM Forum, Practical ITAM, the Wisdom conferences, Excellence Awards, and my evangelism work around ISO/IEC 19770 all stemmed originally from the ITAM Review. This site has been the starting point, the sandbox, the place ideas first formed before they grew legs and became real organisations, real events, real training, real initiatives.

I’ve not been in control of day to day writing and editorial since sometime before COVID and over the last few months I’ve been enjoying getting back to basics: writing, researching, interviewing, testing ideas, looking at patterns, pulling threads. Picking up the “industry analyst toolbox” again.

The ITAM Review is returning to its roots as my platform for analysis, perspective, and practical insight. ITAM is still the core. But the “ITAM space” isn’t a neat domain any more. As I’ve said many times before the IT department used to be the guys in the corner who fixed your laptop, now IT runs like a thread through the whole business, and the same could be argued of ITAM itself, no longer a department, but a discipline across the whole business increasingly intertwined with other functions.

How it started, how its going

Here’s what you’ll get

So, rather than the industry magazine it had become over the last few years, I’m returning back to my roots, which is a place for my thinking in the ITAM space, as the adjacent fields of FinOps, IT procurement and vendor management, Information Security, Service Management, Governance and AI. An independent voice, vendor or service provider agnostic. Covering what’s happening in our industry, what working out in the field, what trends are impacting economies, and how technology platforms and service providers are innovating.

In short: less “industry magazine”, more “analyst notebook”. Same founder. Same unhealthy obsession with all things ITAM. Fresh energy.
