About

This webinar has taken place.

If you are involved in IT Asset Management, Contracts or Audits, particularly around software from Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Hyperion, Siebel, SAP or BusinessObjects, don’t miss this educational session hosted by ITAM Review’s Rich Gibbons on 18th December at 4pm GMT with guest speakers Craig Guarante, CEO of Palisade Compliance and Dan Ashton, Senior Director of Product Marketing at Rimini Street.

Topic

Building on your success with optimizing licensing spend, your IT stakeholders may also need your help in optimizing spend of their enterprise software support. This may come in the form of evaluating the total cost of support, negotiating out of an unplanned audit or reducing the impact of a forced upgrade in order to stay current on vendor maintenance.

The software support line item has been untouchable for decades and vendors like SAP and Oracle would love to keep it that way. However, that area of spend absorbs a large percentage of the operational budget, leaving very little funding and resources for IT to deliver on their game-changing initiatives. As IT teams scramble to be strategic to the business, can your team ask vendors the questions IT might not want to ask, or even know to ask?

  • How much is the total cost of operating those systems/software?
  • If we just change nothing about our allocations, are we actually getting equivalent value in return?
  • What could we be doing if we freed up some of that budget?
  • Why the mixed signals – first strong-arm us with an audit and then offer promotional pricing?
  • What negotiation power do we have with large enterprise vendors?
  • Are we making budgeting decisions based on fear of vendor retaliation?
