Fireside chat with Salomé Hugo (podcast)

In this latest “Fireside chat” podcast I speak with Salomé Hugo, Head of IT Enterprise Asset Management at First National Bank based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Salomé is also an ITAM Forum Trustee and was a judge on the 2022 ITAM Review Excellence Awards (check out all the 2022 winners here)

In our new Fireside Chats series we learn more about the people behind ITAM. How did they get into ITAM, what are their personal and professional goals, advice for others etc.

With a financial rather than IT background, Salomé became increasingly involved with the bank’s software purchasing. She soon realised that the bank could make significant cost savings by managing its software spend more centrally and proactively.

When the bank established a formal SAM practice for the first time in 2012, Salomé joined right at the start.

What attracted Salomé to ITAM? Aside from the cost savings and opportunities for optimisation, it was the pain of audits.

“Vendor audits used to make me so mad”

Salome Hugo, First National Bank

No doubt this is a sentiment familiar with most of our readers.
