I am in the process of reviewing nine market leading inventory and discovery tools.

The tentative list of vendors participating in alphabetical order is as follows:

  • BDNA
  • Brainware/Spider (Withdrawn)
  • iQuate
  • FrontRange Solutions
  • HP
  • Nexthink
  • Numara Software
  • Scalable Software
  • ServiceNow

The aim of the research is to showcase best of breed products, highlight key differentiators and innovation in the inventory tools space and give readers of the ITAM Review impartial market intelligence to enable informed purchasing decisions.

There will be no charge for the research.  I am aiming to publish the final results in early September – subscribe to The ITAM Review monthly newsletter to receive a notification when the report is published.

  1. Martin,

I believe you are leaving out some of the other excellent discovery tools. Specifically, I would expect that BMC’s discovery technology would need to be included in this review as their auto-discovery and reconciliation capabilities are excellent.

    Thanks.

    -J.

  2. Hi Robert,
I have certainly heard of Eracent but don’t really hear about them in the market place these days. Again, I would welcome their inclusion in the review.
    Martin

  3. Hi Martin,

Is it possible to include our tools : SYNC Pro Inventory Manager & SYNC Pro Scout in this review? We haev been awarded the Microsoft SAM Partner of the Year 2010 in South Africa, and just recently the Microsoft Country Partner of the Year 2011: South Africa. I believe our product(s) is a very strong contender!

  4. Hi Martin

Will you be reviewing the CA IT Client Manager, Asset Management and their add-on module for Software Compliance Manager?

  5. Hi Martin,

Would it be possible to include Easy Vista from Staff & Line in this review? I’ve heard a lot of good things about the product and am considering purchasing it for an installation of about 800 seats.

    Thanks

    Tom

  6. Martin,

Chris Baczkiewicz, who heads up our ITAM Standards, and Best Practice initiatives, has informed me that you don’t know Eracent very well but are welcoming us for inclusion here.

Thank you very much for the invitation. I do believe one of our VPs will be reaching out to you shortly.

While I assure you we are very involved in the industry, and even have employees specifically dedicated to initiatives such assisting in ISO standards for the industry, it is very likely you don’t run across our product on a day to day basis.

Essentially all or our sales tend to be enterprise wide, and generally to customers with in the 10K+ node networks. It is fairly rare we sell to a single business unit in an organization, or for limited engagement SAM initiatives.

We simply find our greatest competitive advantage to be in the large enterprise sales, so we concentrate our marketing efforts there.

Thank you again for your invitation to be included here 🙂

  7. Hi,

Have been using Flexera for some time now and very happy with the output. A bit surprised it hasn’t been included….

  8. Hi Heather,
I don’t see inventory as a key strength of the Flexera offering. I will be completing another review of SAM tools later in the year which would be more appropriate for Flexera.
    Thanks, Martin

  9. Hi Martin,

we’re anxiously awaiting your findings – any date regarding when your report will be available ?

    Thanks
    Mat
