Inventory & Discovery Tools Group Test [The ITAM Review]

  1. The video is scaled down to 320 and the text is too small to read.

If one invokes ‘full screen’ , the low 320 resolution makes the text too fuzzy to read. (Not that I don’t mind listening to you, but not being able to read the text is frustrating)

  2. Thank you very much for the webinar!

It was very informative and gave a good overview of the current tools on the market.
The only negative thing I can think of is that I would prefer to see more interactivity between slides and speech. It makes it greatly improves peoples motivation to listen and suck up all the information.

  3. Thanks for this Martin – as usual your site is very informative and something the team here use frequently

The primary driving force behind our choice of inventory collection was how easy it was to deploy. Having tried various tools over the years we had to reach a balance on whether we go for high levels of accuracy on small samples of data or compromise somewhat on accuracy in order to achieve close to 100% deployment. I’m only familiar with a couple of the products you tested but we did find these easy to deploy in an organisation such as ours.

Would be useful to consider ease of deployment in future tests

  4. I used to read ‘Bike’ magazine when I rode motobikes alot. In this magazine they used to include write ups of different bikes. Rather than riding it round the block or borrowing it for a weekend – the review used to be from using it regularly for 3 – 6 months. When you have ridden a bike for 6 months back and forth to work etc you are truly qualified to review it.

I believe the same can be said of ease of implementation and deployment of these tools. There is only so much I can achieve within the ITAM Review ‘lab’. To really road test technology from this perspective it needs to be live in a big environment over a period of months. I am open to publish any feedback from any readers they may wish to share but unfortunately it is outside of scope for my reviews.

  5. We are very impressed with the comprehensive review that Martin has undertaken of the inventory management market and the report that he has produced.

The report evidences the fact that at Numara Software we put a great deal of emphasis on ease of use and flexibility with our products so our customers can be up and running quickly and adding value to their business without the need to deploy an expensive and unnecessary IT infrastructure.

This is also in part due to our continued investment in and innovation of our products that provides the ability to support current customer issues such as virtual sprawl management, the move to the cloud and mobile device management.
