Bytes buy Phoenix & License Dashboard

Bytes UK have acquired Phoenix Software and License Dashboard.
Bytes have bought “the Blenheim group”; a holding company for the SAM technology and services provider License Dashboard and the software reseller Phoenix Software.
Bytes itself is owned The Altron Group, a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company, which is a holding group for all sorts of bits and pieces across UK and Africa from electronics, power, cabling, software and services.

According to CRN’s top UK VARS ranking table (which I assume is based on 2015 or 2016 numbers) – Bytes was 14th with £193.3m and Phoenix 25th with £114m. On this basis the new Bytes would be around 10th. 80% of Phoenix Software revenue is said to come from the Public Sector, whilst Bytes is predominantly focused on private sector, according to an Altron statement.
It will be interesting to see where License Dashboard sits within the new group. Our last review on Tools Advisor noted 362 customers on maintenance. In contrast the Bytes SAM team position Snow front and centre as their “Asset Management Platform”. In a blog License Dashboard stated:
“License Dashboard Limited will continue to operate as it has always done within the new group structure under the new parent company. Therefore, I wish to take this opportunity to reassure you that there will be no changes to your account management, service and partnership with License Dashboard. We will continue in running the business with the same leadership and management teams and staff with a go to market strategy to drive into new areas of product development & services.”
No job losses are forseen at Phoenix, which was sold after the current owners decided to retire and cash their chips in, according to a statement by Altron Group Chief Executive Mteto Nyati.
The deal is said to make Bytes Microsoft’s largest UK partner.
