Gartner have released a new Market Scope for ITAM repositories.

As with the Gartner 2010 MarketScope, I found the industry snapshot more useful than the vendor analysis.

Patricia Adams states the market has shrunk ‘to less than $400m’. This may be true for the big four conglomerates (BMC, CA, HP, IBM) but doesn’t seem to reflect the rest of the market (I have no specific evidence to substantiate this, only gutfeel/anecdotal).

Patricia provides a good overview of the BYOD issues, neatly describes the weakness of most big tools in handling complex licensing models and describes the importance of ITAM in defining the IT Portfolio and Financial Management.

It is available to read here courtesy of HP.

  1. Looking forward to reading report, but “read here” link is not working yet. Nevertheless, I shared this page’s link to the Google Plus SAM Circle I created.
